Mud Slides and Dams

Mud Slides and Dams
May 9, 2011
We seem to end up back at Boykin Springs more often than I care to admit. I like the place don’t get me wrong but I love discovering new things but today they family just wanted to go play so that is what we did.

Anna was happy to see that the “tub” we made last time we was here was intact and had finished filling up with water.

They took a bucket and wet down the slippery bank beside the springs to get the “slide” slick enough that they could try that out. Adam is fearless and was the first one to zoom down the super slick mud slide.

Stewart decided it was time he “helped” get it slick. By the time Anna got to slide it was very slick and she went down it fast and reckless.

Finally Austin gave it a try too.
The crazy way they were climbing and sliding was making me a nervous wreck so this activity did not last long.

Austin was enjoying making mud balls and chunking then at his sister. Notice the large wad of mud on her back.

So she had to “bathe” in her tub to get the mud off. When she tried to splash water on Austin to get him back, it backlashed on her soaking herself instead.
We then headed back to the swing area.

Adam was busy making a dam in the stream. Anna decided to help move a log in the space.

Stewart helped by putting some larger rocks in the gaps. As you can see the water started backing up nicely.

Then the two little ones would stand on the dam and “cannonball” into the foot deep water.

Anna decided to go to where the little water fall was and try to slide down the bank into the pool below. “I think I stopped it up…” she stated disappointed that the little valley was smaller than her rear end. Once she reached the neck of the waterfall, her booty had clogged it and the water quit flowing. Of course Adam had to see if his behind would clog the water flow also, which, it did.
Austin was tormenting Anna telling her that there might be snakes in the pool of water. I told her that was not true and not to worry.

Then I told her, “but there might be leaches.” “Momma, is there really leaches?” she asked as she needed to get in the water to get to the spot where she left her shoes. I told her, '”leaches like water in pools like this that the water is not flowing much.” I never seen her move so fast before, she practically “walked on water’ to get across that pool to retrieve her shoes so we could go home.

She grinned with accomplishment!
